Samuel Zongren Riewer

Samuel Zongren Riewer, 19, of Bemidji, MN died Tuesday, November 26, 2024 as the result of an
auto accident.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Calvary Lutheran
Church in Bemidji, MN with Rev. Jeremiah Holst officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm –
7:00 pm on Friday, November 29, 2024 at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN and
one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Samuel was born August 14, 2005 in Chuzhou, China. He spent the first 33 months of his life at
the Chuzhou Children's Home. He joined his Forever Family of Tom, Penny and Sophie Riewer
when he was adopted on May 6, 2008. He attended Horace May Elementary, Bemidji Middle
School, and graduated from Bemidji High School in 2024 where he was an honor student. He
worked for Natures Edge Garden Center for four years, a job he enjoyed. He loved spending time
with his family and extended family. He enjoyed swimming, downhill skiing, and gaming. He was
a big strong guy with a huge heart and a gentle soul. Once you got to know him, he could also talk
your ear off. He loved dogs, especially his loyal companion Rylie.
Sam is survived by his parents, Tom and Penny Riewer, sister Sophie Riewer, grandparents Pat
Soltau and Leroy and Connie Riewer, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dan Soltau and his uncle, Jeff Riewer.
