The Fern and the Bamboo.....
One day I decided to quit.... I quit my job,
my relationship, my spirituality..
I wanted to quit my life.
I went to the woods to have one last talk with God.
"God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"
His answer surprised me...
"Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?"
"Yes", I replied.
"When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of
them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from
the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from
the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.
In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again,
nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo".
He said. "In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo
seed. But I would not quit.
In the fourth year, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed.
But I would not quit.
He said. "Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth.
Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant.
But just 6 months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had
spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong and gave
it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a
challenge it could not handle."
He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have
been struggling, you have actually been growing roots. I would not quit on
the bamboo. I will never quit on you.
Don't compare yourself to others."
He said. "The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern, yet, they
both make the forest beautiful."
"Your time will come," God said to me. " You will rise high!"
"How high should I rise?" I asked.
"How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return.
"As high as it can?" I questioned.
"Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can."
I left the forest and brought back this story. I hope these words can
help you see that God will never give up on you........
Never regret a day in your life.
Good days give you Happiness.
Bad days give you Experiences.
Both are essential to life.
Keep going...
Happiness keeps you Sweet,
Trials keep you Strong,
Sorrows keep you Human,
Failures keep you Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going!
Have a great day! The Son is shining!!
God is so big He can cover the whole world with his Love and ...
so small He can curl up inside your heart.

My heart is heavy and aching with sorrow since hearing of the tragic death of Sam. Such sudden news tears a hole in the heart and especially in the hearts of his parents, Barb & Steve & Randy & Deb, and siblings, Sara, Jake & Alicia. He has many many extended families & friends who are hurting too, but supporting each other helps tremendously and we will all have to get through this together. I remember Sam as a baby and watched him grow into the cutest little guy. His smile, his politeness, his "Thanks" when he had dinner at the Neumann's, his hugs, the times spent at the race track, the Nascar parties at Randy & Deb's,the Holidays when we could spend them together, are some of the good memories I have of Sam. To Sara, who has always been his"Big Sister", I Love you and care for you, and pray that the Lord will hold you and guide you through these tough times. Our door is always open for you. Please know that!!! You are never alone,we will be here for you. I'm sure Grandpa & Grandma, Gene & Janice greeted Sam with open arms and I bet Aunt Connie was there to hug him too.
I would like to share a meditation that has kept me "grounded" these last few days.
"LEAN ON ME"
During difficult times, I hear God say: "Lean on Me, for I care about you. Let My strength support you, My Love carry you. I'm here for you.
"Lean on Me, and I'll help you through any pain. I'll be your eyes when you feel you have to turn away. I'll be your ears when you can't bear to hear what has to be said. I'll be your heart, always filled with courage and hope.
"Lean on Me and trust in Me. You know Il be there for you through thick and thin, in the best of times and in the most challenging of times. I am your rock, your fortress, your everything.
"Lean on Me and discover complete serenity. You are My Child, and I will never forsake you."
LEAN ON ME, DEAR ONE
And so, we know not the day or the hour God comes calling us home. He has His plans for us. Let us live each day as our last.
With Love, Grandma & Grandpa Neumann

To the family,
Sam was a wonderful kind hearted kid, he would do anything for you
if he could. Always so well mannered. Even if Brandon, Tressa
or Jayson wasn't home he'd hangout
with their mom and dad, most kid's
don't do that anymore. His life was cut short, but know he's in heaven with my brother and many other loved ones, playing cards and
reminiscing about the time they had
together on this earth with all of
their other friends. He'll be greatly missed and thought about.
May GOD bless the family and friends in their time of deepest sorrow.

Barb, Steve & Sara:
We look at the night sky in the quiet of darkness, and they are never far. Those we have loved and cherished, those who have changed our lives in some small or profound way are closer than we know, because it is their light that shines on our world. It is the brilliance of their souls that makes our night sky glow. We will always remember Sam, what a wonderful, crazy and funny kid he was growing up next door. May peace shine down upon all of you and bring you comfort.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
