Samuel Anthony Taylor passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 81 in Dallas, Texas. Born on February 15, 1944, Sam’s life was marked by his profound dedication to his family, his country, and his diverse interests.

Sam proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965, during which he was deployed to Vietnam and was part of the critical operations during the Cuban Missile Crisis. His service was not just a duty but a strong commitment to his nation, shaping much of his character and values. As a result of Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam, Sam succumbed to Parkinson’s Disease. The family would like to recognize the US Veterans Administration who provided generous support and needed services the last years of his life.

Following his military service, Sam carved out a successful career in radio broadcasting and management across several cities including Seattle, Albuquerque, Houston, and Dallas. He was also known for his work as a voice coach and TV commercial actor, where his charismatic presence and voice won him many accolades.

An active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church since 1986, where he married his beloved wife Carol, Sam was deeply involved in the church community. His happiest times were during his annual Mission Trips to Honduras, where he distributed reading glasses to the poor. Sam loved working with the Hondurans, and they reciprocated his love by showering him with attention and care, helping him ambulate in his last few trips.

Sam was a man of many passions. He held a private pilot license and enjoyed flying, a hobby that gave him much joy and freedom. He was an avid reader, regularly contributing to the Dallas Morning News editorials, and had a deep love for history and random facts. Samuel also cherished music, traveling, and most importantly, raising his children and caring for his grandson, Alex.

He is survived by his spouse, Carol Zebrowski Taylor; children, Samuel Taylor of Crockett, Texas, Tara Segovia (Americo) of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Timothy Taylor (Melissa) of Bend, Oregon; grandsons, Alexander and Jordan Taylor. He also leaves behind his sister, Lawrene 'Rene' Williams of Beaverton, Oregon and brother-in-law, Edward Zebrowski (Jeanne) of Cheltenham, Pennsylvania. Samuel was preceded in death by his brothers Dennis Taylor and Gerald 'Jerry' Taylor, and his sister, Sarah Gerde. While Sam was aboard ship during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Dennis was killed in a hunting accident at the age of 16. The Red Cross made heroic efforts to zipline him off the ship, but he still missed Dennis’s funeral proceedings, an event he reminisced his whole life.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on May 16, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 5923 Royal Lane, Dallas, Texas 75230, with a reception following the service in Cook Hall.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church in his memory, honoring his commitment to his faith and community at: http://stlukesdallas.org/give

Samuel's legacy will be remembered by all who knew him as a dedicated patriot, loving family man, and a person of diverse talents and interests.
