Samuel Thompson Obituary

Samuel Vernon Thompson, age 72, was born on February 12, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on October 20, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family at his daughter's residence. Over the course of 40-plus years, Sam dedicated his life to the craft of HVAC, with his legacy as a hardworking man matched only by the love he poured into his family and friends.

Sam's educational path began at William Christian High School in Independence, Missouri, from which he graduated in 1971. He honed his expertise further at Ivy Tech, earning a certificate in Heating and Air Conditioning, a testament to his commitment to his profession. Attending The Sanctuary in Columbus, Indiana, he embraced community with an open heart, where his compassion shone brightly.

Known for his strong will yet gentle nature, Sam was indeed a rock for those who knew him, embodying the perfect balance of sensitivity and steadfastness. As a loving family man, he cherished moments spent with his loved ones and embraced the simple pleasures life offered. His passion for the great outdoors was evident in all he did; whether he was fishing at tranquil lakes or camping under a starlit sky, nature was his sanctuary. With a green thumb, Sam nurtured gardens, leaving a mark on the Brownstown Community Garden, and transformed seasonal fruits and vegetables into delightful canned goods to share with cherished family and friends.

As a proud Kansas City Chiefs fan, Sam often let his heart sing with classic rock music, relishing in the pulse of rhythm and the camaraderie of concerts that brought joy to his soul. A man who found solace in scenic drives through the countryside, he believed that true happiness lay in life's simplest moments-an inspiring mantra he imparted to those around him.

His legacy is woven into the hearts of those he leaves behind: his son, Rocky Thompson and wife, Tracy of Missouri; daughters Carrie Schryer and husband, Brian of Seymour, Indiana; Angela Thompson of Brownstown, Indiana; and Alicia Reichenbacker and husband, Bart of Seymour, Indiana. He is further survived by his brother, William "Bill" Thompson of Springfield, Missouri; and sisters Ada Crespin and Geneva Perez, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren carry forth his spirit and warmth.

Sam reunites in eternity with his father, William Thompson, and his mother, Mary Lopez Thompson, as well as his relatives who lovingly took him in-Uncle Bill and Aunt Sue Pruitt. He also joins Diane Dixon Fish, the love of his life and the mother of his children, along with brothers Isaac "Ike" and Walter "Wally" Thompson, and sisters Viola Armijo, Marlene Perez, and Thelma Sue Thompson. His grandson, Lance Anderson, stands alongside him, reminding us of the bonds of family that extend beyond this earth.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM, at the Christensen Family Funeral Home in Seymour, Indiana, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Houston Cemetery.

Friends are invited to leave condolence messages for the family at www.christensenfamilyfuneral.com.

Daniel and Betsy Christensen have been entrusted with the arrangements.
