Samuel Edward Thruston I was born on August 31, 1981, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to the loving parents Jerry and Tonya Thruston.
A proud graduate of Cardinal Ritter Hight School in Indianapolis, Indiana, Sam was a self-employed entrepreneur who often expressed to his mother that he would never work for anyone else.
Sam embraced his faith at a young age, receiving all his sacraments from Blessed Sacrament Chapel, and was guided in his spiritual journey by his godparents, Charles Brown Jr. and Vivian Higgs.
Sam loved life and lived it to the fullest. To know him was to love him. He deeply valued family and will be remembered for his hardworking nature and his playful sense of humor.
Sam passed away at the age of 43 years, 5 months, and 18 days.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sandra Moorman Brown; paternal grandparents, Felix Sr. and Helen Thruston; and uncles, Felix Thruston Jr. and Roy Thruston.
Samuel is survived by his devoted parents, Jerry and Tonya Thruston; his grandfather, Charles Brown Sr.; his brother, Marvin Thruston; and his four children, Joseph S. Thruston, Aysa S. Thruston, Samuel E. Thruston II, and Samijah E. Thruston. He is also survived by several uncles and aunts: Donald Brown, Charles (Tonia) Brown Jr., Beatrice (Dr. Efrim Sr.) Moore, Christopher (April) Brown I, Jacquelyn (Anthony, deceased) Cox, Deanna (Anthony) Lewis, Jerome (Linda) Thruston, as well as his nephew Gabriel Thruston, and a host of family and friends.
Though Samuel may have left this earthly realm, his spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege to love him.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday March 1, 2025, at Up Church, 1836 W 5th St, Owensboro, KY 42301.
