Sandi Mae Williams 1930 – 2025
Charlotte "Sandi" Mae Williams, 95, of Blackfoot, passed away on Saturday, surrounded by the love of her family.
Sandi was born in Arco, Idaho, to Alice Hocking Karn and Walter H. Karn. The younger sister of Mary Jean, she grew up in Howe and graduated from Arco High School.
When Sandi was in her early teens, she went to school in Arco and lived away from home. In today's world, it might not seem like a big adjustment, but back then she had no way to contact her family, who were at home. It was hard on her, but it taught her how to adapt and make friends wherever she went, and that would become one of her greatest strengths.
After high school, she took a bookkeeping class in Utah, using the twelve dollars her mother gave her to pay for it. With no easy way to communicate back then, she faced another time without contact from family outside of writing letters, a story that showed both her determination and independence.
She married Vernon Williams of Howe, Idaho, and together they built a life surrounded by family, friends, and horses. They lived in Arco for several years, just one street away from her sister, and together her and Vernon rode in the local posse. They later moved to Blackfoot and eventually bought a home in Wapello, where they owned Williams Training Stables. She loved horses of every kind, whether show horses, racehorses, riding horses, or 4-H. They were married for 52 years until Vernon's passing.
Sandi started work at the Gas Company and then ended up working for Dr. Morris's dental office until retirement, where she spent many years as a dental assistant. She often joked she could have done the job of everybody in the place and loved the people she worked with and the patients who became friends.
She also loved to cook and bake for people. Sandi was happiest when others were enjoying the food she made.
Sunday breakfasts with friends were a favorite tradition for her and her friend group, where they would catch up and stay connected. She valued her relationships deeply and always made sure to stay in touch. If something was going on, Sandi already knew about it, as she had a gift for keeping up with everyone and everything, and her knack for good gossip was legendary.
Family was everything to her. She was a devoted mother to Brent and Terry, and she had special relationships with her daughters-in-law, Tina Williams and Jan Job, who were like daughters to her also. She was a proud and deeply involved grandmother to Clint, Brandon (Dusty), Nichole (Devin), Seth (Jennifer), and April, rarely missing an event, clipping every newspaper article, and cheering them on at every sporting event, horse show, and activity they were part of. She carried that same love and energy into being a great-grandmother to Dawson, Dominic, Boston, Olivia, Brayden, Anyston, and Blake, doing her best to stay just as active in their lives. She had a special bond with her nieces and nephews and was the glue that held so many people together.
She will be remembered for her humor, her stories, her sharp memory, and her ability to make anyone feel at home. Her family and friends will keep her spirit alive every time they share or tell one of her stories.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2025 at Hawker Funeral Home in Blackfoot. A viewing will be held an hour prior to the services starting at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in the Grove City cemetery directly after the service.
