Sandra Acheson Cameron Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Benton County Funeral Home on Dec. 21, 2025.
Sandra Alice Acheson Cameron died on December 20, 2025, in Rogers, Arkansas. She was the eldest child of Walter Miles Acheson and Alice Brosman Acheson (both deceased). Her husband of more than 50 years, Karl Cameron, also predeceased her. She is survived by her sons, Don Hoss (Robin) Cameron of Arkansas and David (Brenda) Cameron of Wisconsin as well as her grandchildren: Courtney and Cordon (Jennifer) Cameron and Jayden (Heather) Cameron, Megan and Amanda, her great-grandchildren: Luke, Camden, Lily, Anika and Ethan. She is also survived by her siblings: Ruth (M.A. DE Oliviera) Acheson, Tom (Kathy) Acheson and Erna (Jerry) Waterman and their children: Chris, Amanda, Tasha and Lydia plus her cousin Shirley Eaton who was an unofficial older sister and her beloved unofficial daughter, Cheryle (Doug) Watson.
Even when very young, Sandy spent most of her days in her parents' small business (Acheson's Attic) where she grew adept at organizing and managing detailed information and finding jobs for her younger siblings. She earned B.A. and M.A. degrees at Adams State and became an accountant. She taught business education classes before joining the Kearney County Hospital as their CFO. She was instrumental in stabilizing the hospital financially and was promoted to CEO of the hospital and nursing home. During her tenure, the hospital added a clinic and assisted living facility. After her retirement, she and Karl travelled with friends before relocating to Arkansas to be near her eldest son.
Her commitment to her church and her Christian faith was unwavering and she gave freely her time, energy and financial resources to benefit and support this community throughout her life. In retirement she became a tireless, prolific quilter, completing hundreds of beautiful quilts that are lasting treasures in the homes of her family and friends.
Sandy was a remarkable woman. She was all business when organizing family events including molding a motley crew of family members into a cohesive group that provided a memorable surprise anniversary party for her parents. She was a loving support to her family and friends while also providing wise counsel to those who sought her help. Although she hated to admit it, she was sentimental and cried at sappy movies and secretly enjoyed romance novels. We will miss most those moments of strength, kindness, and compassion.
