In memory of
Deborah Byrd King

The summer of 1974 we moved to Briar Lane (next street over). There were not many families around that looked like ours. I´ll never forget the day BJ and Krista came walking down our driveway. My brother Ray and I were playing and Mrs. Barrett sent them over to meet us. I can´t remember if our mom met Mrs. Barrett that first day or not, but know that the friendship was sealed forever. The moms grocery shopped and hung out together and I´ll never forget the Christmas Eve family dinners. Mr. Barrett was my softball coach and though the Barrett´s were golfers and my parents bowled, there was always good natured teasing about favorite sports teams like the Yankees and Cowboys. There are so many fond childhood memories. IBM transferred our family to Virginia. We were all saddened, but I know my mom was brokenhearted, leaving her dear friend. Though not always frequent, we kept in touch over the years. Sadly, both Mrs. Barrett and my mom became ill and passed away less than 90 days apart. Thankfully, not before being able to convey to one another how much they cherished that special friendship from nearly 50 years ago. I think my mom felt that was one of the things on her final bucket list before she left this world. Mrs. Sandy Barrett was a petite lady with the biggest heart and an infectious laugh. I´ll never know what caused her to embrace our family the way she did. She will be forever missed and loved. I know she and Mr. Barrett are playing a round of golf in Heaven and are together again. Thinking of BJ, Krista, Jennifer and Barby. Ray and I send our prayers and love.

Sandra and I were neighbors when she lived in Essex Jct. Our kids went to school together. We spend many afternoons sitting on our front steps talking.

Rosewood Lane.....our neighborhood where we grew up and played at each others house. Tony Orlando and Dawn and cream of chicken soup! The Barrett house was always filled with laughter and music. Mr. and Mrs. Barrett were a huge part of my childhood. My thoughts are with BJ, Krista, Jennifer and Barbie. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Our family trips to Vermont included Italian sandwiches and red hot dogs. Bill missed his Italians and Sandy missed her red hot dogs. I have so many special memories of our trips to Vermont. I will miss Sandy so much!
My love and prayers to you !

Sandy was a wonderful lady, whom I am so fortunate to have had as a neighbor. Sending her family love and light, as you adapt to life without her earthly presence. We are all better people, for having known her.

Thirty years ago, Sandy introduced me to the game of golf and and a host of people at the Williston Golf Club. She encouraged me to compete statewide and I went on to develop my own passion for the game and it was all because of her. She was incredibly encouraging and supportive along the way. I shall be forever grateful for the gift of her nudging me along. I also have a vivid memory of how happy she was to show off the flower boxes that Bill had built her! Big smiles. My deep condolences to the entire family for this big loss. with love, Jeanne Morrissey
