Dear Aunt Sandra,
I'm so sorry I couldn't be there today to celebrate your life. You were truly the Best Aunt, and 2nd Mom ever!! I remember as a child, especially the holidays, at your house. Delicious food, Uncle Dick, Uncle Donnie, Mike and Jeff playing cards, hooting and holaring. You let me play your piano, and told me I'd be great someday. You and the ladies having a glass of wine after Thanksgiving dinner. How rosey your cheeks, and your laughter contagious. You came for a long visit when Grandma was with us. It was my 16th birthday! Against my Mom's judgement, you let me take your car and stay out till 11:00. Best night ever!!
We had good times! I remember a trip to Tennessee, long road trip, but worth it.
I was delighted to to come stay and help for the week you came home from hip replacement. Stayed up till 2 or 3 a.m. just talking. I miss you!
When my Mom died, I was in despair. I called you and you were right there. You agreed that was it, you were my Mom from that day forward.
As much as I know you wanted me close by, you always applauded and proud, would just pause and say, so when you coming by?
I've been away for 10 yrs. Now, never dreamed it would be this long, or that I would never get to see you again. We have talked often, but not enough. Life has its way!
I was lucky enough to catch you last week. You scolded me for not getting to meet my outfit (my family). I put them on the phone, and I'm so happy you approved my outfit.
May God's sun shine down on you as you walk into his light. You will forever be in my heart!
I love you,
Betsy
