Sandra Craven

Sandra Evelyn Craven, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, departed from this world at the age of 76, passing away peacefully in the evening of January 13, 2025. Surrounded by her loving family during her final moments, she embraced her transition with the grace and dignity that characterized her entire life. Born on February 29, 1948, in the warm and welcoming town of Lamesa, Texas, Sandra was the treasured daughter of Orvis and Gloria Davis. Growing up in a nurturing environment, she was instilled with the values of hard work, compassion, and community service that would guide her throughout her life.
After accomplishing her high school education at Lamesa High School, Sandra took a bold step and relocated to Lubbock to pursue her academic goals, enrolling in a business program that paved the way for a fulfilling and successful career in medical administration. Her professional journey was marked by dedication and excellence, but the true essence of Sandra's life radiated through her unwavering support and profound love for her children. Sandra was more than just a mother; she was a steadfast advocate for her children's dreams and aspirations, immersing herself in their activities and always extending a helping hand. She proudly donned multiple hats-volunteering as a Room Mother, cheering from the sidelines as a Soccer Mom, and leading the Girl Scouts of America, where she nurtured young girls in their journey of self-discovery.
Her commitment to community service resonated deeply in the multiple organizations to which she dedicated her time. Sandra played an active role in the Coronado Football Booster Club, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the 4-H Club, and the Coronado High School Future Farmers of America (FFA), helping foster a sense of camaraderie and support among families and students alike, as well as volunteering her time for many years to help at the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Telethon to help find a cure for ALS. Her involvement extended into the realms of beauty and grace as she worked with the Miss Texas and Miss Texas USA Organizations, contributing to the empowerment of young women.
In addition to her extensive community engagement, Sandra cultivated a vibrant social life enriched by the bonds of friendship. As a cherished member of the Bucket List Red Hat Club, she radiated positivity and joy, serving as Club Queen and bringing laughter and inspiration to her fellow members. Her remarkable sewing skills were legendary, with Sandra often being called upon to create stunning costumes, intricate garments, and even wedding dresses that encapsulated her artistic flair and dedication to her loved ones. Additionally, she was an avid gardener and a keen bargain hunter, always on the lookout for treasures to share with friends and family. Hosting family reunions and joyous parties brought her immense happiness; Sandra's home was a haven of warmth, laughter, and hospitality, where everyone felt welcomed and cherished.
Sandra is lovingly remembered and survived by her brother, Phil Davis of New Braunfels, Texas, as well as her caring sister-in-laws, Keepa Davis of Lubbock and Connie Davis of New Braunfels. Her legacy lives on in her children: Shane Craven and his wife, Dusty, of Springtown, Texas, and Anissa King and her husband, Jay, of Lubbock. She will forever be remembered by her grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart: Carson Craven and his wife, Mia, of Haslet; Chance Craven of Weatherford; Kennedy King of Dripping Springs; Remi King of Lubbock; Moss Craven of Springtown; and Channing King of Lubbock. Additionally, her great-grandson, Jhett Craven of Haslet, will carry forward her legacy of love and warmth.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who embraced and supported Sandra throughout her life, particularly Vanessa and Brent Houtchens, Glenn Patton, her beloved "Lunch Bunch," Simone Gordon, Fay Headley, Barbara Burns, Alyson Albus, Leslie Sherman, Kim Hodges as well as many others. A special thanks to Calandra Schanzenbach and Chelsea Boaz of Grayce Enhanced Hospice Care. Their compassion and commitment to her care provided comfort during her final days.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Orvis and Gloria Davis; her brothers, Brent Davis and Kent Davis; and her sister, Kim Davis. Each of these family members held a special place in her heart, and their memories will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Sandra's legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering commitment to her family and community will be forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
