Sandra Lynne Dever

Sandra Lynne Dever, age 83 of Deerfield passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024 in Highwood, Illinois. She was born December 2, 1940 in Lake Forest, Illinois to the union of George J. and Lena M. (Tollefson) Hensel. Raised in Lake Forest, Illinois she was a graduate of Lake Forest High School, class of 1959. She attended cosmetology school and worked as a cosmetologist and hair stylist. She worked at the Bannockburn School as a library assistant and retired after 27 years at Fort Sheridan and Great Lakes Naval Station in the Military-Finance & Medical Library. Sandra was an avid reader, race car enthusiast and volunteer race day track spotter and a volunteer at Friends of the Highland Park Public Library. She was also a member of the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) since 1987.
Beloved mother of Diane (Vincent) Schumacher of Lake Bluff and Denise (Leo) Moritz of Prentice, Wisconsin. Fond grandmother of Audrey (Conner) Loessin of Burlington, Wisconsin. Dear sister of Karen Goodman of Gurnee, Judy (late Bill) Kaether of Waukegan and Bill (Nancy) Hensel of Lake Forest.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 29, 2024 12:30 P.M. at the Church of Saint Mary, 175 East Illinois Road, Lake Forest, IL Rev. Michael Nacius, celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, Lake Forest, IL with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall.
