BESSEMER, Mich. – Sandra Lee (nee Anderson) Dums, 79, of Bessemer, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at her home.
Sandra was born on June 4, 1945, in Ironwood, the daughter of Benjamin and Martha (Johnson) Anderson. She attended Luther L. Wright High School in Ironwood and graduated in 1963.
On April 1, 1967, Sandy was united in marriage to Chester W. Dums at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ironwood. They were blessed with three sons.
Sandy worked at Pamida Discount Store in Ironwood until its closure. She concluded her working career as a child care provider at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Day Care in Ramsay.
Sandy was an avid reader, excelled in cooking and baking and enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and doting on her grandchildren.
Sandy is survived by her beloved husband, Chet; three sons, Todd (Jeanne), Kevin (Beverly) and Chester A.; and six cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Makayla, Kara, Emily, Breanna and Jessa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leonard Anderson; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Madeline Dums.
A memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, March 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3673, 605 W. Lead St., in Bessemer. A prayer service will take place at noon, with the Rev. Roy Speck officiating. A pasty luncheon will follow the service.
