In memory of
Dr. Calvin Rice
November 4, 2023
I remember being a young principal in the Port Arthur Independent School District Supporting the Turn Around of an elementary school, and Mrs. Ellington was assigned to me as a TEA Campus Support. I remember her being excited about working with children and helping our team help them be successful. It was the development of a long friendship that included lots of Red Velvet cake drop offs. I learned so much about the school improvement process from Sandra, but even more about navigating life's challenges. "Locus of Control". "Calvin, control the things you can control. I will miss her smile and her words of positivity in every situation.

Heartbroken to hear of your passing- I don´t think words can express what a difference you made in my life. From the first time you walked into my office for a health coaching appointment to our weekly Mcalisters lunches with you asking me "What do you want out of life?" You were a constant source of encouragement and inspiration and hope in my darkest days over the last 3 years. You challenged me. You made me think. But I felt love from you and I felt seen and heard- every time I was in your presence. I will miss you and your wisdom and your kindness terribly. Thank you for a life well lived and sharing a piece of it with me.

I just found out that the one of the most influential people in my life passed away. Sandra Ellington was by far the one person in my life that got me through some of the toughest places in my life. She was my life coach I did life with her weekly for almost a a full year. We finally met at the Airport in Texas in 2015 after our first of many sessions together. This past year I have tongive her the credit for pushing me out of my box and giving me the wisdom to carry on. She got me through Kaidens hospital stays, she taught me tools that I have in my life forever. She gave me tools to live courageously and tools to create a legacy. She encouraged me to publish my writing and share my stories. She taught me to get out of my own way because I was the only thing stopping me. She will forever be my inspiration and will forever hold a special place in my heart, she will be missed by many. She is part of my why and she is part of my story forever. I am forever thankful for crossing paths with this beautiful lady who touched the lives of many. I am blessed to call her my forever life coach. My prayers are with the family.

Farewell to a timeless educator.
Sandra was my professor at Lamar University . As a new teacher I visited her school and she took the time to share with me in conversation.
When I became a brand new principal, Sandra took every opportunity to give me confidence and cheer me on at every turn. She was that person who believed in everyone. She will be terribly missed and never forgotten. Prayers of comfort for the family.

Sandra was a gift to me and so many other people. She was fiercely faithful to those who worked under her direction. She always had a smile and was a warm and giving lady. Although it has been several years since I last saw her, I will always remember her smile, her grace, and her kind nature.

Sandra had such a big and generous heart. I admired her work in schools during covid and I appreciated collaborating with her on the One to One professional development team. She contributed so much to our thinking and planning and always was more than willing to take an active role in either facilitating or supporting in the monthly sessions. I also got to know her on a deeper level through our monthly LBD Impact webinars. She always saw the positive side of things, and shared herself openly and with humility. These are traits I admired in her. I can still hear her gentle voice and her endearing laugh.
I also know how much she cared for and nurtured all of her One to One clients. I will miss her so much as she was a dear friend. My heart is broken.

Sandra Ellington was an awesome capacity builder and leadership coach. More important, she was a great ambassador for student success and professional development. She was truly an asset to my growth and maturation as a leader in education. She will be greatly missed.

Sandra was my principal at MacArthur Elementary 4-5. She and I had a wonderful working relationship. We worked together recently at Pietzsch-MacArthur Elementary, while I was a reading coach for teachers. We
enjoyed reuniting and working together, again. I'll miss her friendship and support terribly.
