Sandra “Sandy” Elson, surrounded by family and friends, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Born and raised in the Summerdale section of Philadelphia, Sandys’s life, by almost defiant choice, was not one defined by titles or accolades but rather passion, persistence and purpose. A devoted mother, a lifelong patron of the performing and creative arts and activist, Sandy’s undeniable curiosity took her to many corners of the globe and through numerous careers until finally finding her way to the one thing that could and would ultimately define her: family. Whether it was cultivating deep bonds with family and friends or defying many of life’s conventions, Sandy’s infectious smile and stunning combination of will, humor and intelligence left indelible impressions on all who were lucky enough to share time with her.
Sandy will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Chris (Lisa) and Justin (Erica); her brother, Jimmy; her nephew, Ben; her niece Katie; and her grandchildren, George, John and Abby; and former husband, Robert. She is joined in rest by her parents, Helen and Charles, her sister, Mary, her husband Ron and former husband, Bernie. Sandy’s family, built from both blood ties and personal connections from the heart, extends far and wide, and she continues to be cherished deeply by many.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sandy's Memorial Service on Friday, January 23, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Wade Funeral Home, 1002 Radcliffe St., Bristol Borough, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sandy's name to your local animal rescue or shelter.
