Sandra Firebaugh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home - Storm Lake on Feb. 25, 2025.
Sandra "Sandy" Kay Firebaugh, age 73, of Spencer, Iowa, formerly Marathon, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
Celebration of Life services will take place Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 1-5:00 p.m. at Puffs Whitecap Inn in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Sandy was born on August 10, 1951, in Storm Lake, Iowa to the late Albert and Patricia McKenna (Harrington).
She leaves behind her loving husband of 42 years, Larry Firebaugh of Spencer, Iowa. She is survived by her daughter, Heather Turner and her husband Victor of Katy, TX, along with her granddaughter Ilana Firebaugh-Cook and her husband Chris and great-granddaughter Maven, and her grandson Victor J.; her son Al Stacy and his wife Joy of Murfreesboro, TN, along with their daughter Campbell; son Curt Firebaugh of Reno, NV; son Craig Firebaugh of West Palm Beach, FL, son Lonie Firebaugh of California, son Mike Firebaugh of Reno, NV, daughter Maryann Firebaugh of Reno, NV, and son Corey Firebaugh of Reno, NV.
Sandy was preceded in death by her sons, the late Larry Firebaugh Jr. of Sacramento, CA, and the late Sheldon Firebaugh.
She is also survived by her siblings: sister Gloria Lyster and Gene of Storm Lake, sister Kris Bierma and Larry of Indianola, brother Bob McKenna and Jaci of Boone, sister Pat Barnett and Gene of Storm Lake, sister Macey McKenna of DeWitte, and sister Jamie Berg and the late Doug Berg of McCook Lake, SD, and handful of nieces and nephews.
Sandy worked at Bil-Mar of Storm Lake for 31 years where she proudly became the first woman supervisor in the plant. Sandy devoted her heart and soul to the plant where she worked hard to prove her value. It was here where she met and led so many wonderful people.
Sandy was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan who enjoyed watching football and basketball games with her husband and friends. Sandy had a love for water and sun, she was often found bathing in sun or floating in the pool. She loved her weekly card and domino games with the ladies. She was an avid reader and was often lost in her books and Kindle. She loved to bake and cook anything she could find on Facebook as well as canning tomatoes, pickles and relish.
Sandy had a great sense of humor and befriended anyone she met. She loved being around others, and if she really liked you, you would know by her sarcasm and the new names she would give you. She was definitely the life of the party!
Sandy would want her friends and family to celebrate her life and cherish the fun memories of her. She is happy to be pain free and resting peacefully.
