Hugeback – Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Fredericksburg has been entrusted with arrangements.

Sandra Rae Harnisch, born Sandra Rae Broihier, was born on January 26, 1944, and passed peacefully on January 23, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Sandi attended Alpha School and graduated from Fredericksburg High School. She dedicated 33 years of her life working at Meinerz Creamery, continuing there until it closed as ConAgra in 2003.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family above all else. Sandi spent the best years of her life on her farm outside of Sumner, Iowa. She enjoyed many years of horseback riding on trail rides, camping, and spending time with friends and family. Everyone who knew Sandi knew she had three great passions in life: horses, bingo, and most of all, her family. She treasured every handmade gift from her great-grandchildren and proudly displayed them throughout her home, where reminders of their love could always be found.

Sandi is survived by her two children: Troy Harnisch of Thousand Oaks, California, and Tracy (Dale) Flugge of Fredericksburg. She was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren: Tim (Colletta) Harnisch of Fredericksburg, Tiffany Slick (Tanner Enderson) of Sumner, Karli Zeien of New Hampton, and Cassie Kilcher of New Hampton. She was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her sisters, Cheryl Broihier of Sumner and Cindy (Jerry) Koster of Toledo; her brothers, Meryl Broihier of Davenport and Buster Broihier of Long Grove; her half-sister, Pam (Mike) Smith of Canton, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Adeline Broihier, her grandson-in-law, Sean Slick, and Ernest and Kathleen Harnisch.

Sandi will be remembered for her kind heart, her love of the farm life she cherished, and her deep devotion to her family.
