Sandra G. Holtzclaw, 75, peacefully went into the arms of her Savior,
Jesus Christ, on June 3, 2024, at her home in Seneca, South Carolina, with her family by her side.
She was the loving wife of Jerry Holtzclaw for fifty-six years and the mother of two sons: Jerry Holtzclaw II, his wife Erin, and Rev. Dr. Ryan Holtzclaw, and his wife Emily. She was affectionately known as Gigi by her five grandchildren: Levi (12), Caleb (9), Elliott (10), Samuel (7), and
Madeleine Pearl (4).
Sandra was the daughter of the late Sarah Lollis Hawkins and Thomas Lewy Hawkins of Westminster, South Carolina.
She is survived by her brothers: Jack Galbreath (Vivian) of Walhalla, Marshall Galbreath, and Stephen Hawkins, both of Westminster; her sisters: Donna H. Ells and Cindy G. White (Scott), both of Seneca; her sisters-in-law: Pat Holtzclaw of Waterloo, South Carolina, Phyllis H. Gibson (Cecile)
of Seneca; her brother-in-law: Charlie Holtzclaw (Donna) of Shelby, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sandra was predeceased by her brothers-in-law: Michael Ells, Terry Holtzclaw, and Benny Thrasher.
She was a member of Utica Baptist Church for fifty-four years where she was active in the adult choir, handbells, Women's Missions Union, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, children and youth ministries. She participated in several mission trips, including serving in Peru and serving in Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina. She was also actively involved in helping with Utica's Operation Christmas Child mission until her change in health.
Prior to her retirement, Sandra worked at the medical office of Dr. James Carpenter, West Point Stevens, part-time for the Oconee County Coroner's Office, and Golden Corner Family Practice.
In addition to spending time with her family, Sandra loved cheering on the Clemson Tigers and sewing.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM at Utica Baptist Church, 4056 Wells Hwy, Seneca, 29678 on Friday, June 7, 2024.
A celebration of life will follow at Utica Baptist Church at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dr. Ryan Goodroe and Rev. Dr. Ryan Holtzclaw officiating.
A graveside service will take place at Heritage Memorial Park (4500 S. Highway 11 Westminster, South Carolina 29693) after the memorial service.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the care our wife, mother, and Gigi received from her precious hospice nurses: Kayla Sanchez and Katelina Osko, from Agape Hospice Care.
The family requests that memorials be made in honor of Sandra Holtzclaw to Utica Baptist Church's Building Fund (4056 Wells Hwy, Seneca, SC 29678), or Agape Care of South Carolina (145 Thomas Green Boulevard, Suite 209 Clemson, South Carolina 29631).
Flowers may be sent to Utica Baptist Church (4056 Wells Hwy, Seneca, SC 29678).
