Sandra Honious Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Inc. - Norfolk Chapel on Dec. 26, 2025.
Sandra (Sandy) Honious, 82, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 28, 1943, in Memphis, TN. Sandy dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband of 44 years, Howard, and their six children. She is pre-deceased by her brother Thomas (Bubba) Capps, grandson Christopher, and dog Thumper.
Sandy had a variety of interesting jobs over the years. She was a real estate agent, managed a 1 hour photo shop and a toy store, and worked at a shipyard as a "hook on person." It was her job to climb to the edge of a crane and attach whatever material the crane needed to move. Sandy was an avid reader and loved to shop, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and listening to her children telling stories from childhood.
She is survived by her husband Howard, and dog Tucker; sisters Elsie Chrestman (Lawrence) and Jinny McGowan (Bob); daughter Debbie Baber (Jimmy) and granddaughter Missy; daughter Sandy Burnett (Beth) and granddaughter Jennifer; son Troy Burnett (Michelle) and grandchildren Taryn, Alexandra, Stephanie, Catherine, and Miles, great grandchildren, Selene, Brynnly, Nikita, Karter,Clara; son Rodney Burnett, Sr. (Laurie), grandchildren Rodney, Jr. (Amber) and Amber, and great granddaughters Lilly and Sophia; daughter Michelle Best (Jon), grandsons Joshua and Austin (Allyssa), and great granddaughters Madison and Jayla; son Steve Holloway (Jennifer), and grandchildren Priscilla and Tyler.
The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral Home, 1501 Colonial Avenue, Norfolk on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 6pm to 8pm. A service to celebrate Sandy's life will be held on December 31, 2025 at 11 am at H.D. Oliver Funeral Home, 1501 Colonial Avenue in Norfolk, VA. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. There will be a reception at 2:00 at Calvary Temple Church, 5639 Brickell Road, Norfolk.
