Sandra Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Prugh Funeral Service on Mar. 27, 2026.
Sandra (Sandi) Jean Johnson passed away in her Burlington, Iowa home on March 26, 2026.

Sandi was born October 22, 1937 to parents Howard & Bernadine Williams. Sandi lived a life of kindness, generosity, humor, and an unwavering commitment to helping others. Whether feeding nursing home clients and restaurant patrons or helping Eagles customers, she graced every job with a genuine desire to make a difference.

Her nurturing spirit led her pastimes, too. She crocheted many beautiful hats and blankets for school children, unhoused people, and infants in need, offering warmth and comfort from her loving hands.

She cherished her children and grandchildren above all, creating a home full of laughter, kindness, love, and deliciousness. Sandi loved trying new recipes and sharing treats with loved ones.

Sandi's strength, humor, and positivity shone, even in difficult times. Her ability to find joy in the simplest pleasures and see the good in almost everyone enriched the lives of family and friends. She faced life's challenges with bravery, grace and optimism, exemplifying the power of smiles and kind words. Memories of her will be an enduring reminder of the impact one person can have by living a life of compassion.

She will live in the hearts of her daughter Lynette Heckenberg; her sons Paul (Deb) Johnson and Donovan (Robin) Johnson; her grandchildren Nathan (Kate) Sandrock, Ryan Johnson, Aubrey (Zack) Johnson, Rebekah (Austin) Johnson, Zach Johnson, Sydney Johnson, AJ Johnson, Sam Johnson, and Riley Johnson; her dear friends; and her sisters Betty Haefner and Cheryl Kahler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son Stacey Dean, sisters Nancy Daniel and Deanna Kahler, brothers Charles Williams and Darrell Williams, and son-in-law Jim Heckenberg.

Sandi did not want a funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please honor her generosity by donating time or money to a cause meaningful to you. Sandi loved butterflies, beautiful skies, and flowering plants, so celebrate her in nature's beauty. Also, cheer loudly for the Hawkeyes, Cubs, Fever, and Bears.
