Sandra Lee Latimer

Sandi made the world a better place. She helped mentor me when I started out in journalism in the 1970s as a UPI stringer in Ohio. What a blessing.

Sandy was one of those people you feel lucky to have known and always looked forward to seeing. She leaves a void.

I got to know Sandy through Volksmarching, and I enjoyed many of the Summer walks she organized through the years. She was fun to talk to. I enjoyed her writings on Facebook about her travels around town, and to the various book fairs and book signings she attended. I will miss her.

Sandy was a force here in Columbus area, smart as a whip, caring, a very good writer and will be missed.

Condolences from the many members of AVA who relied on Sandi to hold down the Start Table while patiently explaining how AVA worked and knowing in detail the particulars of that hike and future hikes.

I met Sandi in the 1980's at the Ohio State Fair when she was reporting for UPI and I was in the Governor's Office. One of her stories on my program went national through Paul Harvey. Sandi introduced me to Wolferman's English muffins...an entire carton arrived in my office. We reconnected years later on the common issue of clean neighborhoods and became friends on face book. She was a talented writer who's work made people more aware and her passion for the West side was highly respected. I was deeply saddened by her passing and grateful to know her. May she rest in peace and be with her beloved Red.
