Mason, Sandra "Sandy" Stovall
of Bradenton, FL, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025. She was born in Tampa, FL, in 1942, to parents Wallace O. Stovall, Jr., and Margie Wells Speier.
Sandy graduated from Southwest Miami High School in 1960 and then attended Florida State University, where she was a member of the renowned FSU circus. She later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida. Afterward, she became a flight attendant with Delta Air Lines, where she met and married a Delta pilot and began raising her four perfectly behaved children in Atlanta, GA.
Sandy had a lifelong passion for helping others. From many Thanksgivings spent serving holiday dinners with Hosea's Feed the Hungry program, to delivering Christmas suppers with Meals on Wheels, and later volunteering with the St. Joseph Food Pantry after settling in Bradenton, she always cared deeply for those less fortunate. When she wasn't volunteering, she could usually be found destroying someone at Scrabble and working on her daily crossword puzzles. Thanks to these hobbies, Sandy kept a sharp mind and a wicked sense of humor, both of which will be missed.
Sandy is survived by her three sisters: Sharon Tolar of Peachtree City, GA; Robin Dunaway of Springhill, FL; and Marlene Stovall of Tarpon Springs, FL; and her brother, Larry Stovall (Jacqueline) of Sarasota, FL. She is also survived by her three children: Lion Gardiner Mason, III, of Breckenridge, CO; Wells Fitzpatrick Mason (Jessica) of Coupland and Marfa, TX; and Robin Mason Kelly (Chad) of Atlanta, GA. She loved and was so proud of her five grandchildren: Lion Gardiner Mason, IV, of Breckenridge, CO; Scarlett Thayer Mason of Colorado Springs, CO; Adelaide Honour Mason of Lockhart, TX; Griffin Walker Mason of Austin, TX; and Michael Francis Gueriera, Jr., of Glenwood Springs, CO. Her son-in-law, Michael Francis Gueriera of Glenwood Springs, CO, also survives her.
Sandy is preceded in death by her brother, Wallace O. Stovall, III, and her daughter, Lauren Knight Mason Gueriera.
Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Joseph Food Pantry in Bradenton, FL, Concrete Couch in Colorado, or the Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida.
