"Sandra Jane (Sandy) Brackett McCollum, age 76 of Maryville, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She was a graduate of Alcoa High School and a lifelong resident of Blount County. She is preceded in death by parents Carr and Jo Brackett, and brother Ronnie Brackett. Survivors include husband Eddie McCollum of Maryville, son Kevin McCollum (Tonya) of Knoxville, and daughters Tonya Moore and Melissa Hudson (J.T.) of Alcoa. She is also survived by brothers Carson Brackett, Pat Brackett (Andrea), and Mike Brackett (Ann); and sisters Debbie Keeble (David), and Susie Sullivan (Jim), all of Blount County. Her greatest blessing was being Memaw to Rodney (K.P.), Trey, Cierra, Isaiah, and Tyrus. Prior to her decline in health, she played an active role in the lives of her grandchildren, and she loved each of them beyond measure. Memaw never said "no" to any request made by a grandchild. She was also a great grandmother to Von and Tai and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Sandy could always be counted on for the best chocolate no bake cookies for any family occasion or as "just because" treats for her children and grandchildren. Her homemade chili was a much requested staple at family cookouts. We will remember her kind, loving nature and cherish our memories of the happiness she exuded before the effects of dementia took their toll. Sandy chose to be an organ donor and help others in a final act of love and kindness. Friends and family are invited to the Smith Trinity Chapel in Maryville from 12:00 to 2:00 on Friday, September 19. Burial service to follow at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church in Greenback at 3:00. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
