Sandra Mitchell Obituary

Brooklyn Park, MN - Sandra Jean (Thompson) Mitchell of Brooklyn Park, MN passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025. Sandy was born to Lloyd and Alice Thompson on February 16, 1942 in Minneapolis. She graduated from Washburn High School in 1960.

In her teens Sandy found her calling as a nursing assistant and went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed at the Faribault Hospital and later at Abbott in Minneapolis. Sandy was an extremely dedicated caregiver for her patients and after retirement continued to work in a convent and also for the public schools.

Sandy is remembered for her wonderful sense of humor. She raised her four boys primarily in Northfield, MN where she was involved with the hockey association and was a member of the First United Church of Christ. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, traveling with friends, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her partner Tom Gleason; her sister Randi (Al Brevitz); her sons Win (Caroline), Tim, John (Emily), and Steve; and her grandchildren Olivia, Sam, Morgan, Clara, and Elsa.

A memorial and private family celebration of life will be at Valley Grove in Nerstrand, MN.
