Wolcottville - Sandra L. "Sandy" North, 87, of Wolcottville, Indiana, died Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Chandler Place in Kendallville with her family by her side.

She was born May 2, 1938, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Arla Lee "P-Nut" and LaDonna (Eckhart) Heston.

On November 8, 1956, in LaGrange she married James E. "Jim" North. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2019.

Mrs. North retired after 18 years of employment with Wells Fargo Bank in LaGrange and was also a devoted homemaker. She was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City.

Sandy enjoyed sewing and spending countless hours watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports, moments that brought her great joy. She was a dedicated member of a bowling league at Maple City Lanes in LaGrange for many years, where she formed lasting friendships. Above all, Sandy dearly loved her family and cherished every moment she spent with them.

Surviving are four daughters, Lisa (Paul) Nesbitt of Rome City, Lori North of Greenwood, Lindy North of Wolcottville, and Jamie (Steve) Wilson of South Bend; ten grandchildren, Whitney Nesbitt, Chaning (Brant) Detter, Bryson (Kirsten) Nesbitt, Todd Santiago, Courtnie (Dylon) Halsey, Aurelio "Trey" Santiago, III, Oliva Wilson, Grace Wilson, Alayna Wilson, and Claire Wilson; six great-grandchildren, Blakely Detter, Collin Detter, Callie Detter, Ember Nesbitt, Raelyn Nesbitt, and Baby Halsey due in July; three sisters, Vicki (Dean) Domer of Wolcottville, Toni (Kent) Kraner of Ligonier, and Terry (John) Stukey of Orland; two sisters-in-law, Mary Mawhorter of British Columbia and Lois North of Kendallville; a brother-in-law, Tom Subzda of Rome City.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Todd R. North; two sisters, Sharen Sturgis and Karen Fry; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Vern Fry, Robert and Betty North, Ed Mawhorter, Harold North, and Joan Subzda; and aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Bob Conley.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville. A Rosary service will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady, Patroness of America Center, 2730 East. Northport Road, Rome City with Father Louis Fowoyo officiating.

Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Wolcottville

Pallbearers are Paul Nesbitt, Steve Wilson, Bryson Nesbitt, Todd Santiago, Trey Santiago, Brant Detter, and Dylon Halsey.

Memorials may be directed to Heart to Heart Hospice or masses to the church.
