Sandra "Sandy" Picard, 88 of Superior, Wis. died Thursday February 19,2026 peacefully in her home with one of her daughters by her side.

Sandy was born January 8, 1938 in Superior, daughter of Peggy Arseneau and Al (Bache) Dumonson.

Sandy attended and graduated from East High School in the Eastend of Superior.

Sandy worked for many years in the Douglas County Courthouse for The Honorable Judge Joseph A. McDonald till her retirement in 2003. Sandy and her husband Robert Picard moved to Bullhead City, Arizona and resided there for over 20 years.

She celebrated 50 years of sobriety in June of 2025, with the support from her family, friends, and the Alcoholics Anonymous community.

Sandy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert Picard and granddaughter, Tanya Homich, son in-law Don Hackensmith and her beloved dog "Peanut".

Sandy is survived by four children, Dale (Judy) Homich, of Superior, Bobbi (Don) Hackensmith, Tracy Homich all of Superior, and Brett (Tracy) Homich of Iron River; seven grandchildren, Dustin Homich, Austin Homich, Channie McCall, Steve Nelson, Danielle Walstrom and Sabrina Serfling; six great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren, and her dear friend Sue Watnemoe, A.K.A. "Her favorite daughter".

We would like to give a special thank you to those people who tended to Sandy through her hospice care, they are very special to us.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Vintage Italian Pizza, 1201 Tower Avenue, Superior, WI.
