beloved mother, grandmother, wife, cousin, friend, and dedicated educator for over twenty five years, passed away peacefully at her residence on August 28, 2024, at the age of 75.
Born on June 15, 1949, in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the wife of the late Edmond W. Proulx, the daughter of the late Frank Savone and Anna (Lombardi) Savone, and the sister of the late Frank Savone, Jr.
Sandra devoted a significant portion of her life to the education of young minds, serving as a kindergarten teacher at Centredale School in North Providence, Rhode Island until her retirement in 2007. Her passion for teaching was one of her proudest accomplishments, and her impact on her students will be cherished for generations to come.
Sandra furthered her academic pursuits, earning a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from St. Joseph College and a Master’s degree in special education from Providence College, which reflected her commitment to lifelong learning.
Outside of her professional life, Sandra had a rich array of interests that included cooking, shopping, traveling, and playing golf and cards with her friends. She was an active member of the American Federation of Teachers, where she was able to collaborate with fellow educators who shared her passion for teaching. Additionally, she enjoyed her retirement as a member of the Monte Cristo Golf Club in Edinburg, Texas, where she happily spent time with her beloved husband Eddie, clubhouse friends, and neighbors. She returned to Rhode Island during the holidays to spend time with her family.
Sandra is survived by her three children: Lawrence J. Signore, Esq., Karyn L. Signore, and Stephen J. Signore, who, along with his wife Karen, continue to carry on her legacy. Her cherished grandchildren: Emilie, Benjamin, and Brodie Signore, Kayley, Anabelle, and Lily Babcock, and Lorna, Frank, and Alfred Signore were incredibly important to her and brought joy to her life.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 8:30am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Bartholomew Church, 297 Laurel Hill Avenue, Providence, RI 02909. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Friday, September 6, 2024 from 6-8pm.
Sandra A. Proulx will be remembered not only for her contributions to education, but also for the love and warmth she brought to her family and friends throughout her life. Her joyous spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
