Sandra "Joan" (Bruno) Rundle, 88, of LaSalle, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
A prayer service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Mueller-Pagani Funeral Home, LaSalle followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Hyacinth's Church, LaSalle with Rev. J.A. Small, officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Visitation will be 5-7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home with a liturgical prayer service at 4:45 PM.
Joan was born on August 30, 1936 in LaSalle to Frank and Jennie (Gaita) Bruno. She was a graduate of LaSalle-Peru Township High School, Class of 1954. She married Gerald "Jerry" Rundle on November 28, 1953 in Palmyra, Missouri. He passed away in 2002. Joan worked at Westclox in Peru, then retired after many years at the U.S. Postal Service Center in LaSalle.
Joan was a member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in LaSalle, and was a past member of The Oglesby Elks Lodge, where she was named Elk of the Year in 2016. Joan volunteered for many years in the gift shop at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.
Joan enjoyed gardening and spending many hours tending to her yard, which was always filled with beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed traveling, spending time with and playing cards with friends, and helping others whenever she could. What she loved most of all was her family. Holiday family gatherings were always filled with fun and laughter, good natured overindulging the children, and enough homemade food and sweets to feed an army. She will be forever missed by many.
Survivors include her two sons, Randy (Brenda) Rundle of East Peoria and Craig (Joann) Rundle of Minocqua, WI; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald; two sisters, Marie in infancy and Marie Sherman; and a brother, Salvatore Bruno.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey, Matthew, Michael, Parker, and Steven Rundle, and Ryan Jones.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Hyacinth Catholic Church for Masses to be said in her memory or to the Towers of Faith restoration project at the church.
