Sandra "Sandi" K. Salyga, 75, of Hopewell Valley, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born Sanrda Lacey June 27, 1950, in Philadelphia, Sandi grew up with her brother William, who predeceased her. From a young age, she carried a deep sense of compassion and purpose, qualities that would shape the remarkable life she lived.
Sandi graduated from Memorial Hospital- Roxborough in 1973 and went on to build a distinguished career she took immense pride in. Known affectionately by her colleagues as "Nurse Sandi," she spent the majority of her career with Capital Health in Trenton and later Hopewell, earning multiple nursing awards and touching countless lives with her skill, warmth, and unwavering dedication. Much of her work was spent in the operating room, where her calm presence and steady hands brought comfort to both patients and coworkers alike.
On October 11, 1981, Sandi married Joseph "Joe" Salyga, and together they built a beautiful life and home in Hopewell Township. They raised two children, Jennifer Simon and Robert Salyga, who knew their mother as their greatest cheerleader, confidante, and source of unconditional love.
Sandi's greatest joy came from being "Mom Mom" to her four grandchildren: Joseph (10), Audrey (8), Amelia (9), and Trevor (4). She treasured every moment spent with them, never missing a game, recital, or school event, and created countless memories that will be held close forever.
She was happiest surrounded by family, always planning the next weekend gathering. Sandi loved reading, summers at the beach in Point Pleasant, trips to New York City, listening to music, dancing, and cheering on her beloved Phillies, a passion she carried with her since childhood. Known for her gentle nature and kindness, Sandi built lifelong friendships that she cherished deeply. She had a way of making everyone she grew close to feel like family.
Sandi is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Joe; her children, Jennifer (Phil) and Robert (Courtney); her adoring grandchildren; and extended family and friends who will forever feel her absence.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 N. Main St. Pennington, NJ from 12:30-1:30PM with a service to begin at 1:30. Burial will follow in Harbourton Cemetery.
Sandi will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to family, and the quiet strength with which she cared for others. Her love and light will continue to shine through all the lives she touched.
