Sandra “Sandy” May Saucier, of Groesbeck, passed away at Windsor Healthcare Residence on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at age 86.

Visitation will be at Groesbeck Funeral home on Friday, November 1st, 2024, beginning at 12:30 p.m. until the funeral service.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, with Brother Richard Williams of the Church of Christ of Groesbeck officiating.  The burial will follow at Fort Parker Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Randal Jones, Michael Landen, Jeremy Landen, David Ratcliff, Cody Hilleary and Sean Landen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Stephen Landen and her deceased brother, Alan Landen.

Sandy was born November 23rd, 1937, in Marysville, Kansas to Silas Landen and Violet Winona Cronk Landen. She was raised in Kansas and graduated from Hoyt High School in 1955. After graduation she worked at the Kansas State Capital. While living in Topeka, she met her future husband, a young airman stationed there at Forbes Air Force Base. Their first date was actually a blind date where they attended an Elvis Presley concert together. Sandy was united in marriage with George Cleveland Saucier in Topeka, Kansas on September 22nd, 1956. Their daughter Patricia was born in 1958 and daughter Karen came along in 1963 while living in Japan.

George’s career in the United States Air Force took the family to many exciting places including Japan, Louisiana, New York, Nebraska, Texas, and Hawaii. Hawaii was actually one of Sandy’s favorite places. She enjoyed the beautiful beaches, collecting Puka shells and making jewelry with them and metal detecting with George on the island beaches. When George retired after serving twenty-six years of service, they moved to Groesbeck to take care of her parents who lived in the area.

Sandy was primarily a homemaker and after moving to Groesbeck, she became an Avon Sales Lady. Since she never drove, either George or Karen assisted her with sales calls. Taking care of her granddaughter Kristine while she was growing up and loving the four grandchildren, Jennifer, Randy, Candice, and Natalie that lived elsewhere, were the great blessings in her life.

Sandy loved the Groesbeck Library, being excited to showcase her stack of books from her library visits. She also enjoyed yardwork, her home and her television shows.

Sandy is survived by George, her husband of sixty-eight years, daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Brian Revell of Center Point, Texas, daughter, Karen Lenamond of Groesbeck, Texas, grandchildren Jennifer (Justin) Hearron, Randal (Kelly) Jones, Candice Holliday, Natalie Jones and Kristine Lenamond, a brother Stephen Landen, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Groesbeck Maffett Memorial Library in Groesbeck, Texas in the family’s name would be appreciated.
