Sandra "Sandy" Schmidt

1959 - 2026

Owatonna - Sandra (Sandy) Lee Schmidt, age 66, of Owatonna, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on April 6, 1959, in Waseca, she was the daughter of Norbert and Hilda (Krenke) Schmidt. Sandy attended Owatonna schools and graduated in 1977.

Sandy dedicated 42 years of her life to NCS/Pearson before retiring on November 8, 2024. Her strong work ethic and commitment were hallmarks of her character throughout her career.

When she wasn't working, Sandy enjoyed spending time on the family farm in rural Owatonna. Family was important to Sandy, and she doted on her nieces and nephews whenever she had the opportunity. She took great joy in family gatherings, creating lasting memories with her loved ones.

A lifelong parishioner at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Meridan, Sandy's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her quiet strength and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her.

Sandy is survived by her older sister and brother, Judy (Gene) and Lee; sister-in-law, Linda Schmidt; 8 nieces and nephews - Shelly, Jenny, Susan, Michael, Doug, Alan, Craig, and AJ; and 20 great-nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norbert and Hilda; older brother Larry Schmidt; sister-in-law Debbie (Cramer) Schmidt; great-nephew Otie Schmidt; and great-niece Hannah Schmidt.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Meridan with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are with Michaelson Funeral Home of Owatonna.
