Sandra Jean Schubert, 67, of Milford, Michigan passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025, after several difficult years with dementia. She was born on August 29, 1957 in Dearborn, Michigan, the daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Radwan) Zytell. Sandy married her first love and best friend Gerhard on May 26, 1983. They shared 39 years before he preceded her in death on December 14, 2022. Sandy was his loving caretaker as he battled Parkinson's Disease for many years.
She graduated from Warren Cousino Senior High School in 1975 and then attended Michigan State and Wayne State Universities, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. While working at Clinton Valley Racquet Club, she met Gerhard Schubert. Later in life, Sandy worked for Milford Schools and was the smiling face you would see as you entered the office of Highland Elementary. Sandy delighted in family time, crafts with her grandchildren, quilting, cross stitching, baking, and running. She ran many races throughout the state of Michigan including four Detroit marathons and also one Boston Marathon, all with notable finishes. Her lifelong friends from high school and cheerleading met every year on Christmas Eve for breakfast. They say, as everyone else would agree, that Sandy was very kind, funny, sweet, and optimistic.
Sandy leaves to cherish her loving memory, her sons: Brian (Libby), Brett, and Bradley; grandchildren: Emma Jane, Elizabeth, and Evan; sisters: Shirley (Bill) Skelton, Patricia (Julio) Duronio and Bobbi (Steve) Gilbert; and many nieces and nephews.
Sandy will be truly missed by everyone whose lives she touched. There will be a celebration of her life held at a later date. In remembrance of Sandy's life and love, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at: https://donorservices.alz.org/page/FUNTTMPHCMC?tm_source=bing&utm_medium=paidsearch&utm_campaign=giving_bing_SL&msclkid=eb895b0fd4411209766533284c4e4f23.
