Obituary of Sandra Davis Shanklin
Sandra Davis Shanklin
Mrs. Shanklin, 69, of Charlotte died at Sunrise on Providence Sunday, August 6, 2023. She was born October 13, 1953, in Charlotte, NC, daughter of the late Earl and Mary Davis.
Sandra recently left us due to dementia, a battle she faced with courage and grace. Her unwavering love for dogs, particularly poodles, brought immeasurable joy to her life. Through the challenges of her illness, her connection with these furry companions remained a constant source of comfort.
Sandra was not only a devoted dog enthusiast but also a beloved mother, friend, and confidante. Her warm heart and kind nature left an indelible mark on those fortunate to know her. Despite the trials she endured, she remained a beacon of strength, reminding us all of the power of resilience and the importance of cherishing the simple pleasures in life.
Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Richard Shanklin. Sisters, Pat Black and Nancy Davis. Sons, Will Shanklin and wife Lacey, Matt Mullen, and Josh Mullen. Grandchildren, Emilia Shanklin, Haley Mullen, Carson Mullen, Jackson Mullen, and Isaiah Mullen.
A gathering will take place from 1 to 3 PM on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203.

Sandra was my best friend in high school. I called her "Stick" because she was so skinny. We had so much fun together. One of the funniest things we did occurred when I was spending the night at her house after her family had moved near Southpark Mall. Her parents had gone out of town and taken the keys to their car with them. My car was blocked in and we were bound and determined we were going to go driving around as kids back in the day would do. Somehow we managed to push their car enough out of the way to free my car and we were off! She was a wild and crazy gal and just loads of fun. She always had the most beautiful hair and skin.
I am so sad to hear of her health battle. I experienced some of the best times of my life with her. I will cherish those memories.
Prayers for her family. RIP Stick.

"Time cannot steal the treasures that we carry in our hearts, nor ever dim the shining thoughts our cherished past imparts".
Sandra holds a special place as a sweet friend throughout our school years, smart, funny & beautifully blond.
My sincere condolences to her family & friends.
