Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gray-Parker Funeral Home on Dec. 10, 2025.
Ms. Sandra Singer of
Culver City, CA and formerly of
Port Jervis, NY died Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Providence Holy Cross Med Center in Mission Hills, CA. She was 62.
She was born October 15, 1963 in Middletown, NY the daughter of the late Natan Singer and the late Rosemarie Freund Singer.
She was a member for many years of the Westside Regional Center, El Segundo, California, dedicated to providing Social Services to developmentally disabled individuals. The Performing Arts Studio West, Englewood, California, where members performed dances, acting, singing and artwork. The Exceptional Children's Foundation, 5350 Machado Road, Culver City, California; dedicated to providing supervised residential housing, organized recreational activities, and supportive transportation for developmentally disabled residents' appointments.
A family statement read: Sandra was the baby of our family. We think she enjoyed and even may have taken advantage of that position. It was hard not to give to her when she wanted something. She was an adorable baby and child. While she was somewhat developmentally challenged, she rose to any occasion, especially if the event involved entertainment. The comments by many of the family and friends who enjoyed holiday get-togethers when Sandra visited New York, described her as a "Shining Star", "fun of the party" "such a light in all or lives" "Sandra's positivity and smile brought light into the world". They said she brought sparkle into the lives of all she met.
Sandra had no hesitation to take the microphone and sing at any wedding, bar mitzvah or any celebration she was invited to. While watching the movie Yentl, she got up and walked up and down the theatre aisle singing the song "Papa". I think she did get an applause. She will always be known by our family and friends as the "Dancing Queen".
Surviving are: Sister: Marilyn Singer and her husband Alan Geltman of Hollis Hills, NY Sister-in-law: Helena Singer of San Diego, CA Brother-in-law: Bernard Laufer of Los Angeles, CA Also several Nieces and nephews She was predeceased by her Brother, Saul Singer and her Sister, Lorraine Laufer.
