Sandra Jean Smith passed away on January 22, 2026. She was born on March 13, 1944 to John Wesley and Mary Jane (Fleming) Pennell in Bay City Michigan.
She married Norman Smith on June 3, 1972. She was a graduate of Bay City Central and attended cosmetology school and was active in the industry before joining Norm and managing rental apartments. Sandy inevitably retired from the Midland Meijer Deli Department.
Sandy is survived by her sister-in-law’s, Marge Smith and Jeannine Smith nephews and nieces Craig and Holli Bishop, William(Dennis) and Amy Weaver, Steven and Julie Bishop, Debbie and Chris Szafranski, special care givers, Larry and Michelle Campau and numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews she was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Marilyn Bishop and brother-in-law, Frank Bishop brother-in-law’s, Ron, Bill, Loren, Tom Smith, sister-in-law, Liz Peterson and nephew Scott Smith the family would like to extend its thanks to the entire staff of Stratford Pines Nursing Home in My Michigan Health Hospice Care for the final years and weeks of her life.
Funeral and Committal Services will take place Sunday, January 25, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Joe Atchinson with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present on Sunday to receive family and friends from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
