Sandra Leigh (McCray) Snyder, 74 of Head Waters, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Augusta Health Care.

She was born August 3, 1947, in Head Waters, a daughter of the late William “Peyton” and Anna Lee (Botkin) McCray. On July 26, 1968 she married Carson Snyder. She was raised and held membership in the former Head Waters Presbyterian Church and attended McDowell Presbyterian Church.

A retired certified nursing assistant with a quick wit and good humor, Sandra loved visiting with people, was known as a people person and never met a stranger. She enjoyed putting puzzles together in the winter, raising flowers in the summer and loved listening to the rain. She also enjoyed traveling with her sister, Barbara to the annual Nothin' Fancy Bluegrass Festival in Buena Vista. She will be fondly remembered for her jokester ways, bubbly personality and laughter that would light up a room.

In addition to her husband of 53 years, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Crystal Snyder of Churchville; grandson, Justin Chandler of Timberville; two sisters, Barbara J. Warner and husband, Jerry of Vinton and Vivian Terry and husband, Bobby of Monterey; brother, William P. “Jake” McCray Jr. and wife, Susan of Head Waters; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother Charles Botkin and infant brother, Sherwood McCray.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, February 20, 2022 in Head Waters Cemetery with Rev. Andre Crummett officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Bobby Terry, Jerry Warner, Ray Hodge, Les Brown, Alan Losh and Wayne Puffenbarger.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Obaugh Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to Head Waters Cemetery c/o Elmo Varner, 14952 Highland Turnpike, Head Waters, Va. 24442
