Gastonia- Sandra Bumgarner Tate, 66, passed away suddenly February 19, 2015 at CaroMont Medical Center. She was born in Gaston County, NC on March 5, 1948 to the late Ross and Ruby Caldwell Bumgarner. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Tom Bumgarner and Joe Bumgarner. She was a member of Ranlo Baptist Church, where she was active in the Choir, Finance Committee, Sunday school teacher and Sunday School Director. Sandra sang in various quartets since 1963; and lived a life of music. She retired from Gaston Baptist Association. Sandra was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an all around caring person and was loved by all. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Curtis Dean Tate, daughter Angie Burns and husband Robert; twin grandsons, Seth and Chandler Grant; God sons Houston and Weston McCurry; Brother, Jim Bumgarner and wife Jane, sister, Faye Bynum and husband Hoyt Sister in laws, Lorene and Rachel Bumgarner, brother and sister in laws, Bill and Ann Tate, Diane and Jerry Peeler; Several nieces and nephews Funeral Service will be Sunday, February 22nd 3 pm at Ranlo Baptist Church, 1517 Spencer Mountain Road, Gastonia, NC with Reverend Matt Thomas and Reverend Perry Huffstetler officiating The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 pm prior to the service. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park Pallbearers will be Houston and Weston McCurry, Jeremy and Marty Peeler, Pinkney and Pete Bynum Memorials may be made to Ranlo Baptist Church, 1517 Spencer Mountain Road, Gastonia, NC 28054 Condolences may be made to www.withersandwhisenantfuneral.com.
