Sandra Underwood

Palmer- Sandra "Sandy" Jean Underwood, 65, passed away July 31, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 18, 1959 in Springfield, MA to the late Harvey and Jean (McBride) McAdam. After graduating from West Springfield High School in 1977, Sandra worked as a billing clerk for Baystate Medical Center and later at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC. After having children, she dedicated her time to raising her family. She will be forever remembered as a beautiful, caring mother and was loved dearly by her husband and children.After her children were grown, her kindness and ability to care for others extended beyond her home as she became a caregiver for a number of families. She also worked as a cashier at Kmart in Palmer.Sandra was guided in life by her faith, and received Jesus Christ as her Personal Lord and Savior early in her life. She had a deep appreciation for nature and loved visiting Forest Lake with her husband to watch the wildlife, enjoyed birdwatching and feeding the birds that visited her home, along with supporting many different animal causes. She also loved going out to a family style restaurant with her husband to eat or even to just take 'short' rides around town most evenings. She was artistic in many ways and would work alongside her husband painting wooden cut outs that he prepared. Sandra had a very kind heart, remembering those who had health needs, encouraging them with cards, notes and kind words. But most of all, she loved her family and they were her entire world.Besides her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Glenn McAdam. She leaves her loving husband of 44 years, Barry Underwood; son, Andrew Underwood; daughter, Sarah Dysart and her husband, James; son, Jonathan Underwood and his wife, Heather; grandchildren, Isaiah and Abigail Dysart, and Brooke Underwood; and her nephew, Brian Underwood and his wife Emily.A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 10 at 10AM at the Faith Baptist Church of Palmer, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandra's name can be made to the Faith Baptist Church Missions Fund.
