Obituary published on Legacy.com by John V. Morris Family Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 19, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a beautiful, generous and thoughtful resident of Wilkes-Barre's Heights neighborhood. Mrs. Sandra Jean (Zurla) Wade, 81, passed peacefully into eternal life early the morning of Wednesday, March 18th while in the care of Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre, following a prolonged illness.
Born on Thursday, June 15, 1944 in Pittston, she was one of three children to the late Decio and Vilma (Paolucci) Zurla. Educated in the Exeter schools, Mrs. Wade was a 1962 graduate of the former Exeter High School.
Until her retirement in 2006, Sandra was employed for more than twenty years by the Nardone Brothers Baking Company of Wilkes-Barre. Previously, she held membership in Our Lady of Fatima Parish at Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, on South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre.
In her spare time, she loved solving word search puzzles and was an avid reader.
Despite famiy recalling her as being an excellent cook; she is most remembered for her loving, nurturing ways. Sandra was a caring, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her presence will be greatly missed, while her passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. May she now rest peacefully in the light of Christ.
Mrs. Wade was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Harding "Butch" Wade on November 12, 2014. At the time of Mr. Wade's passing, the couple shared forty-eight years of married life together. She also bid farewell to her brother, Frank A. Zurla and a nephew, Alex.
Left to cherish all the wonderful memories they now keep of her in addition to her daughter and caregiver, Denine R. Wade, at home are her grandchildren; Zachary Wade, at home and Taylor Wade of Houston, Texas; She was an amazing "GiGi" or great-grandma to Ellie and Phoenix Wade, also of Houston. Sandra also leaves her sister, Mrs. Carla Alles along with her husband Ray of Wilkes-Barre; their sons Raymond Alles and his wife Heather; their children Cassidy and Ray, all of Wilkes-Barre and Jeffrey Alles of Dunmore; her brother Frank's son, Thomas Zurla and his husband Michael Semian of Scranton; her cherished bully basset companion, Remi; former co-workers at Nardone's and many dear friends.
Per her previous request, funeral services for Mrs. Wade will be held privately and at the convenience of her family with no formal visitation.
