Sandra Jo Wooten, 81 of Olathe, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 3, 1943, in Hamburg, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Catherine Walker and her brothers, Kenneth and Larry. She is survived by her daughter, Annette Smith (Blake), son, Mark Wooten (Cheryl), four grandchildren, Erin Thobias (Renji) Taylor Smith (Shannon) Nicole Wooten, Danielle Anderson (Jason) and four great -grandchildren, Hugh, Walt, Josephine and Juniper.

Sandra had a gift for hospitality. She showered her family with love when they visited with her delicious home- cooked meals. She greatly enjoyed working for the Johnson County Sheriff’s department, until she retired in 2016. After her retirement, she found the purpose of serving the Lord, in her volunteer work, at Mission Southside in Olathe. She baked cookies and made coffee each week for the mission volunteers. She was passionate about her church, family, friends and the Chiefs. She courageously fought lung cancer for 20 years, never letting it stop her from work, attending Life Church, shopping with friends and spending time with family. She was smart, caring, resilient, independent, brave, strong, and a true friend. She was loved by so many.

Sandra’s memorial service followed by a reception will be held at Mission Southside at 11am on November 9, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mission Southside, 514 S. Kansas Avenue, Olathe, Ks 66061.
