Sandra A. (Bozeman-Cannon) Wright was born on August 16, 1944, to Henry and Thelma Bozeman and departed on Sunday, September 14, 2025. The third of four children, she was raised in Chicago, IL, where she attended Wadsworth Elementary, Hyde Park High School, and Chicago Teachers College where she achieved her BS in Education. She then achieved her MS in Education from Ball State University and furthered her education at UW-Superior.

She married Wardell Cannon and gave birth to her only child, Brynnetta. Wardell died when Brynnetta was 4 months old. Five years later, she married Pope Wright and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage until he died in 2015.

Her hobbies included volleyball, bowling, bocce ball, reading, crocheting, sewing, playing cards (bridge and canasta), and board games.

She served on several boards, including Boreal Waters Community Foundation (formally Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation), Patient and Family Council at Essentia Health, Board of Visitors at UW-S, and various others.

She also served on many committees at University of Wisconsin Superior, Police and Fire Commission, Inservice Committee, Building Committee, Physical Education and Computer Education Committees, for the School District of Superior, and lastly she was the first Affirmative Action Officer.

She was a member of the Red Hats Society, a book club, many volleyball groups, Superior Area Retired Educators, various bowling teams, a bocce ball team, several bridge and canasta groups, and a loving family.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husbands, Wardell Cannon and Pope Wright; daughter, Brynnetta; her parents; brothers, John Robert and Henry; and many other relatives.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Constance (Phillip) Howard, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; grandson, Bradford Benner of St. Paul, MN; nieces, Pamela Bozeman, Lanesa (Robert) Bejnarowicz, Tanesa (Titus) Fair, Nicole Bozeman, Enid (Petey) Thurmon, Keeli, Kelsi, Porsha, Asia, Takeila, Aryanna, Ashley and Carrie; nephews, Phillip (Melissa) Howard, III, Marcus (Cynthia) Walker, Vincent, Dino, Lendor, Theodore, and Andre; numerous cousins; and extended family, Tom, Brad, the Susies, Bev, the Kinsleys, the Cahills, Yvonne, Delores and some great neighbors.

A Celebration of Sandra's Life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, with visitation from 1:00 until the 3:00 p.m. Memorial Service at Downs Life Celebration Center, 1902 N 34th St., Superior, WI 54880.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Superior Boys & Girls Club.
