Sandy and I were best of friends up until we were 8 years old when we moved away. Our birthdays were 2 days apart and our middle names were Rae so we felt almost like sisters. Low and behold when my Dad celebrated his 100th birthday in 2013 Sandy showed up at his celebration at Pilgrim Manor. Back then we put celebrations like that in the Grand Rapids Press and Sandy saw it and came which meant so much to me and my Dad. I have memories of her and I walking down Cutler St. to the Brown Paper Co selling the newspapers we had collected in our little red wagon when we were only 5 or 6 yrs old. You certainly wouldn't do anything like that now. My sincere sympathy to the family. `
