Sandy Berger

It's almost five years since Sandy's untimely passing. I miss him very much and think often of the times we spent together in the White House, doing business in Asia after leaving the government, and working exceedingly hard during the 1992 campaign. I'll be forever grateful for his counsel and wisdom.

Saddened as we all were by Sandy's passing, I was among the cousins and 1,300 guests at his memorial service at Temple Sinai in Washington, and I appreciated visiting the family at home afterward. Years earlier, after Sandy was interviewed by John Donvan of ABC News at Adas Israel Congregation in the Cleveland Park section of northwest Washington, I approached him and said, "How are you doing, cousin?" He replied: "We need to talk!" We never had that talk.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your loved one, Sandy. We were neighbors in Millerton, NY, in the 1950's, and I remember Sandy as the cute, redhead friend of my younger brother! I followed his political career with admiration and respect, too. May your fond memories of your brother, husband, grandfather, friend sustain you.

I had great memories with sandy.

To Sandy's Family, I first knew Sandy while working at the Democratic National Committee in 1970s and then for Sen. Harold Hughes. We even shared an "office" for a time. He was so kind and generous to a neophyte (he was too, but it didn't seem that way to me!). I am greatly saddened by his death way too soon. May perpetual light shine upon him, and his name be forever a blessing to others.

I am so sorry for your loss. Sandy and his family were very close to my family growing up in Millerton. I have many good memories of Sandy going way back and was fortunate to have spoken to him recently. His passing way before his time is extremely sad.
