Roscoe William ("Billy") Barkley, 75, of Timberville, VA, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Timberview Crossing Assisted Living in Timberville.

He was born January 31, 1950, in Harrisonburg to the late Mr. Roscoe & Mrs. Kathrine "Mae" Barkley.

Billy worked at Rockingham Poultry for two years before graduating from Broadway High School in 1968. He then transitioned to the air conditioning line at Dunham-Bush until its closure in 2000. Following Dunham-Bush, he later worked at CCL-Harrisonburg for several years. Before full retirement, Billy served as a custodian at Spotswood High School. Additionally, he was a highly involved member of Timberville Church of the Nazarene. He served as the Sunday School Superintendent for over 30 years and was recently recognized for being the church's longest-standing member.

On October 6, 1973, he married the former Darla Elaine Hess, who preceded him in death on August 11, 2025.

Surviving are his two daughters, Sara Herndon (Chad) of Mechanicsville, and Krista Palacios (Edson) of Kansas City, MO, his three brothers, Richard, Gary (Misty), and Darrin (Candy), five grandchildren (Sophie Herndon, Cammie Herndon, Josiah Palacios, Judah Palacios, and Silas Herndon), and numerous nieces and nephews. The family remains grateful to Billy's sister-in-law, Erma Orebaugh (Harold; "Junior"), who provided care for Billy and Darla for many years with incredible compassion.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM- 10:45 AM, with a memorial service to follow, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 29, at Timberville Church of the Nazarene. The casket will be closed.

There will not be any services at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Timberville Church of the Nazarene: 15849 New Market Road, Timberville, VA, 22853; the Alagille Syndrome Alliance: P.O. Box 22, Collierville, TN, 38027; or Shelter KC: 1520 Cherry St., Kansas City, MO, 64108.

Mr brown was honestly truly a GEM. He worked as a security guard at this gas station that wasn't in a safe area. Not only did he protect any mothers or women that walked into the store. He especially protected me. I went to him with all of my problems, and with no judgement, we'll talk, then laugh through my pain. He made sure he dropped me off at home once our shift was over. He didn't drive away until he seen me close my door behind myself. I have stories for days, but one thing I will say is Ms Linda is honestly blessed to have had someone like him by her side. My condolences to his entire family. Especially those that he made smile with his witty sense of humor. I love you Mr brown. This isn't goodnight, I'll talk to you every night. Because I know you're listening in spirit

Worked with Henry on various uniform shifts and investigations over our years on the Syracuse Police Department. Truly one of the good guys.
May he rest in peace.

I spent time with Jesse through the catalyst workout years. Jesse was always so fun to be around. We had an amazing group of people in our small circle. Jesse was definitely a bright light and will be greatly missed. Praying for his family!
