Sandy Springsteen

Sandy Springsteen, 74, of Columbus Junction, died Saturday, March 14, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born February 5, 1952, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Robert Eugene and Maurine "Peg" Lawson. On July 3, 1999, she married Chester Lee Springsteen in Oakville, IA.

She graduated from West Burlington High School in 1970.

Sandy enjoyed crafts, puzzles, baking and cake decorating, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and she loved attending all of her grandchildren's events.

Survivors include her husband, Chester Lee Springsteen; children, Adam (Vicki Ellison) Truitt of Mount Vernon, Aaron (Hilarie) Truitt of Mount Vernon, Scott (Robin) Springsteen of Mediapolis, Dawn (David) Shipman of Oakville, Kim (Lee) Kingston of Mountain Home, AR, Diana (Eric) Vanderkooi of Piggott, AR, Lisa (Nick Carlton) Springsteen of Piggott, AR; 11 grandchildren, Alivia & Alaina Truitt, Kelsey Twinam, Hattie Garrison, Dalton Shipman, Kelsey Allbritton, Collin Kingston, Karlee Ryan, Zack Vanderkooi, Maddie Vanderkooi, Hayley Springsteen; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Sue (Jay) Runnells of Wapello; and niece, Kristi Lawson of Burlington.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street.

The memorial service for Sandy will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Prugh Funeral Service, 3940 Division Street. Burial will be in Edwards Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
