Santo Anthony "Sam" Barbetta

Santo "Sam" Barbetta Jr., passed away suddenly September 12, 2025, at the age of 58. Born in Perth Amboy and a longtime resident of Matawan, NJ, Sam lived a quiet life. He had a love for the Lord, music (especially the Doors), and the Mets. His heart, though often guarded, held a deep affection for those closest to him, particularly his longtime partner, Barbara Bondi. Their relationship was a testament to the intricacies of human connection-with a unique commitment that spoke volumes.
Sam also held a deep love for his family, he spoke of them with a mix of nostalgia and unspoken longing, revealing layers of sentiment that he rarely showed outright.
In his passing, we remember not just the complexities, but the underlying humanity that made Sam who he was: a man who loved deeply, even if imperfectly.
Sam was predeceased by his father Santo Barbetta Sr. He is survived by his mother Fayette and her husband Dominic Pinto, sisters Faye, Dawn and Therese, and various nieces and nephews. As well as his devoted girlfriend, Barbara, and her children and granddaughter.
A visitation for Sam will be held on Thursday, September 25th from 11 AM - 1 PM at Bedle Funeral Home, 212 Main St, Matawan. Concluding prayers will be held at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sam's memory can be made to Save the Music at www.savethemusic.org
