Sayles Funeral HomeSara E. Coutu, 84, formerly of Danville, VT, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026 at The Pines in Lyndonville.
Sara was born on November 28, 1941 in Pawtucket, RI to Francis & Eileen (McMahon) McDermott. She married Raymond Armand Coutu, Sr on April 27, 1957, sharing nearly 70 years together before his passing on April 11, 2025.
At her core, Sara was a caregiver. She owned & operated Woodside House Home for the Elderly for many years and worked for home health. She cared for her children and enjoyed seeing her family grow. She also owned several dairy farms and enjoyed cooking, baking, as well as traveling going on cruises, shopping, and going to the casinos. She collected antiques, but was most proud of her Beanie Babies collection! Above all, Sara loved her family and will be missed most especially by them.
Sara is survived by her children: Raymond Armand (Janice) Coutu, David Raymond Coutu, and Maryellen (Scott Stevens) Brodhead; siblings Eileen Perry, Dan McDermortt, and Mary Akell; grandchildren Jennifer (Jason) Crocker, Heather (Brent) Hodgdon, Raymond A. (Brandy) Coutu III, Matthew Coutu, Dakota Coutu, Crystal Laferriere, Christopher (Kara Crown) Knights, Michael (Mackenzie Moreau) Knights, and Dallas Brodhead, as well as several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, and her sister Ann Lopez.
A memorial service for Raymond Armand & Sara will be held on their anniversary, April 27, 2026 at the Danville Congregational Church, 87 Hill Street, Danville, VT.
