Sara Harper Obituary

Sara Harper
Sept. 22, 1981 - Dec. 04, 2025
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Sara Lauren Harper, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 4, 2025, at the age of 44, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter, South Carolina.
In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Sara leaves behind and her impact on the lives of her loved ones. Though Sara may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the memories held dear by her family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
She was predeceased by her father, Salvatore "Sam" J. Giannone. She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Weselcouch Giannone; her companion, Raul "Alex" Rivera Garcia; her children, Camden Liam Harper, Danielle Mya Harper, Rhys James Harper, and Lilliana Elise Harper; and her siblings, Garry Giannone, Dana Casey and her husband, Michael, and Lee Angeloszek and her husband, Bruce. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The smart cookie that she was, Sara was a graduate from Ansonia High School, finishing 3rd in her class. She proceeded to continue her academics at the University of Connecticut (UCONN), completing 5 years of studies and acquiring a Bachelor's in Social Sciences. With unrivaled people-skills and tech-savvy, Sara went on to work as a contractor at the Ehrling Bergquist Clinic at Offutt, AFB, Nebraska, before becoming a GS employee for the Omaha Veteran Affairs Hospital. She continued in this line of work remotely after moving to Sumter on active military orders.
Most importantly, Sara dedicated much of her time tending to her children. She was supportive of their extracurricular activities whether it were sports, academic clubs, general arts or hobbies-she was readily available to cheer them on. At her leisure, Sara would enjoy playing a series of mobile games, music, reading, cooking, traveling, casual time with her kids, and collecting odd Disney trinkets with her friend Beth. More intimately, Sara attended classical music concerts with her companion, and also enjoyed many lunch/dinner dates; watching movies and shows late at night snuggled next to the love of her life.
In the end, Sara was a woman who was loved by many, but belonged to very few of them. She knew God, and she had a strong desire for her children to walk a path that strengthened their faith. We will miss your radiant smile, your quirks, your presence, kindness and your love. Rest in wonderful, eternal peace, beautiful Sara.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home (515 Miller Rd., Sumter, SC 29150).

I am so sorry for your loss. Sara was great friends with my daughter, Karen so I knew her well. I also knew her from Griffin Hospital. I worked in the lab but used to run into her frequently. I will miss her. May God help you through this sorrowful time
