Sara Taranto Miller, 65 of D’Iberville, MS passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Sara was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and was a pillar of its community. Sara loved her family and her friends fiercely. Her joys in life included Mardi Gras, cooking, being a Southernette member, and spending time with her seniors at the East Biloxi Senior Center. Her time and legacy with the Southernettes represents her love for Mardi Gras. Sara was an example of what it means to serve, through her work in community outreach at Casino Magic, Beau Rivage, and Salvation Army and the many local boards she served on. She earned awards such as the Distinguished City of Biloxi Volunteer of the Year, the Bobby Eleuterius Award for service in the City of D’Iberville, Casino Magic Employee of the Year, and the Judy Martino Spirit Award. Everyone who knew Sara knows she was always willing to lend a helping hand. She will be remembered for her generous heart, fiery personality, and her loyalty to those she loved.

Sara is preceded in death by her grandparents, Julius and Wilda Taranto and Frank and Regina Seymour; her parents, Julius “Scooter” Taranto and Fern Seymour.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband of 43 years, Joey Miller; her daughters, Jessica (Edward) Riddle and Katie Miller; her granddaughter, Jara Riddle; her siblings, Susan (Donny) Wicks, Gwen (Cleo) Waits, Troy (Bonnie Jones) Husley, Carrie (Melvin) Taranto-Chipley, and Julie Taranto; her step parents, Roy Husley and Barbara Taranto; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, Southernette “Sistas,” and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the East Biloxi Senior Center by sending checks made out to Harrison County with East Biloxi in the “for” line. The checks can be mailed to East Biloxi Senior Center at 461 Parker Street, Biloxi, MS 39530. Donations can also be made to the Southernettes Scholarship Fund by sending them to P.O. Box 7315 D'Iberville, MS 39540.
