Mrs. Sara Frances Scott, age 77 of Royston, Ga., passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023 with family by her side.
She was born on March 23, 1946 in Goldmine, Ga., to the late Matthew Jones and Lois Daniels Jones. She loved doing missionary work and was a member of St. Mary's CME Church. Her missionary work included holding Bible study at her home, visiting people in the community and caring for the sick. She started her medical career at Northside Hospital in New York. She moved back to Georgia and began her career at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center. She later worked at Ty Cobb Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement from St. Mary's Sacred Heart in 2017. She was a great mom who always put her family first. She was God fearing. "A godly mom loves the Lord with all her heart, soul, mind and strength (Mark 12:30).
Left to cherish her memories are; her husband, George Milton Scott, Sr., children, Emmanuel (Lisa) Scott, George Milton (Jeannette) Scott, Jr., Shenna (Steven) Glaze, Cynthia (Mark) Hunter, Michael (Dr. Nicole) Scott, and Barry Scott, siblings, Madelyn Williams, Carrie Mayfield, Ida Jones, Ophelia Jones, Dorothy (Roy) Jarrell and Christina Jones, grandchildren, Mattavious Scott, Keyone Scott, Bernard Scott, Imani Willoughby, Sarah Saylors, Victoria Vanish, Serena Saylors, and Christian Michael Scott and two great grandchildren, Khloe Scott and Chance Brown and a special loving niece, Elaine Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Patrick Scott, siblings, Carter Jones, Louise Harland, Ben Jones, Addie Lee Franklin, Inez Curry, Irene Merritt, Saul Jones, Henry Jones, Bobby Jones and Patsy Jones.
She will lie in state at the funeral home on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 9-4 for those that wish to pay their respects.
Home going services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at One o'clock from Royston United Methodist Church with Rev. George Milton Scott, Jr., officiating. She will be laid to rest at Pine View Memorial Gardens in Canon, Ga.
Family members will be at the home, 361 Jordan Street in Royston.
Services have been entrusted to Coile and Hall Funeral Directors, 333 E. Johnson Street in Hartwell.
