Sarah Brown Burnley, age 79, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025. Sarah was born April 10, 1946 in Oakman, Georgia to a loving family of sharecroppers and was the youngest of ten children. From humble beginnings, she carried throughout her life the values of hard work, faith, and kindness that defined her upbringing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Flora Mae Brown; brothers, Sam Brown, Bill Brown, Frank Brown, Leonard Brown, and King Brown; sister, Dorothy Walraven.
Sarah worked for many years in the carpet industry at Wellco, Mannington, and Woolshire, where she was known for her dedication, steady spirit, and warm smile. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life centered around her family and her faith.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Roger Burnley; her son, Cary Burnley, and his wife, Anna, and their children, Avery and Ellie; and her daughter, Jennifer Burnley Osborne, and her husband, Stephen, and their children, Titus and Levi; brothers, Hoyt Brown, Jim Brown, and Fred Brown.
A faithful member of Calhoun Church of Christ, Sarah's gentle nature and servant's heart touched many within her church and community. She loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family, always creating a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter and love.
Funeral services for Sarah Brown Burnley will be conducted on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 2:00 pm from the Calhoun Church of Christ, with Minister Rob Berghorst and Minister Frank Mills officiating. Burial to follow in Chandler Cemetery. The Burnley family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at the Calhoun Church of Christ.
Pallbearers serving will include Greg Brown, Harrison Brown, David Brown, Rick Adams, Don Hayes, and Kenny Black.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Tyler Kirby and the nurses at Southern Cancer Center in Huntsville, AL; the doctors and nurses at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield, AL; and the doctors and nurses at Mitchell Hollingsworth Rehabilitation Facility in Florence, AL, for the compassionate care and kindness during Sarah's illness.
Sarah's life was one of quiet strength, enduring faith, and unconditional love.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
